The PLE exams (Português Língua Estrangeira) administered by CAPLE-FLUL are recognised by various Portuguese and foreign entities and institutions for the purposes of further study, academia, employment, obtaining Portuguese citizenship, and more.
CAPLE Exam
The A1 to C2 exams can be used for educational, social, professional, or other purposes.
The A2-CIPLE exam is the minimum level required by current Portuguese law for obtaining Portuguese citizenship.
Completion of the B2-DIPLE exam is required by Portuguese universities before graduating.

WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU READ THE RULES IN THEIR ENTIRETY
- 1. Candidates can only sit a PLE exam during exam time.
- 2. On the day of the exam, candidates must,
- (i) bring the original copy of the identification document that they used to register for the exam (eg. DNI, passport, or residence permit);
- (ii) arrive at the indicated classroom 20 minutes before the exam start time.
