Level test

Firstly, in order to determine the group in which the student would improve the fastest, we do a free, no-commitment level test. This consists of a personal interview, a grammar and vocabulary test, and a writing. Then, according to the results and the student’s objectives and availability, we recommend the most appropriate groups.

Duration

Our usual courses include two hours of class a week but, if the teacher deems it necessary for the student’s objectives, more hours could be recommended either in a group or 1to1 in order to meet the initial objectives. Groups have a maximum of 5 people. This is the only way for all students to take part and interact, therefore making the most of the lessons.

Material

All required materials are handed to the students either by e-mail before the class or at the beginning of each lesson. The student is at the centre of the learning process and immersed in real-life situations so that they can apply what they have learned in class. This teaching method prepares the student for real communication —both oral and written— with other speakers of the language. For this purpose, texts, listenings, and authentic materials are used, as well as activities that imitate reality.

Exams

We know that exams are important, but we do not want classes to exclusively focus on their preparation. We believe that actually learning the language is far more important in order to eventually succeed at exams. For this reason, and in order to complete the course, we offer two weekly hours for exam preparation, when prior notice is given to the teacher. These additional hours are completely free.

Course hours

There are groups of all levels from A1 to C2 both in the morning and in the afternoon. For more information, contact us.

EXAMS THAT WE PREPARE YOU FOR

EXAMS THAT WE PREPARE YOU FOR WITHOUT BEING AN OFFICIAL EXAMINATION CENTRE

Escuela Oficial de Idiomas (EOI)

The exams of the EOI are demanding and require thorough preparation. They consist of four parts: reading comprehension, listening, writing and speaking. Levels A2 to C1 are tested. You can register either as an independent candidate (in June only) or as a student of the EOI (in June or September).

These are the only exams that provide points for primary and high school teachers looking to work in the public system.

We prepare both independent candidates and EOI students.

B1 tests at the Centro de Linguas Modernas (CLM)

B1 tests at the CLM have two parts: B1-A (which enables you to take part in the ERASMUS programme) and B1-B. Your B1 level is certified when both parts have been passed, which enables you to register for certain MA courses, although this certificate has no validity outside the university setting. (Students who have been on ERASMUS in a German-speaking country do not have to register for B1-B in order to qualify for the B1 level).

Part B1-A consists of a reading comprehension, a listening, a writing and a grammar and vocabulary test.
If the student passes this part, they are entitled to register for the B1-B exam.

Part B1-B consists of an oral interaction.

The registration calendar and exam dates are available on our noticeboards at the school facilities.

Goethe-Institut exams

It is great to know German and to use it frequently. It is even better to be able to prove this with an official certificate. The Goethe-Institut examination certificates are internationally recognized as proof of qualification. Participation in a German language course is often not enough, so register for the German exam of the Goethe-Institut.
